Katherine Ryan
Katherine Ryan is a hugely popular and versatile comic performer. As well as being a comedian, she works as an actress, writer and presenter and is well equipped to be either your guest event host or after dinner speaker.
Born in Ontario in Canada in 1983, the eldest of three sisters, Katherine comes from Irish, Canadian and British heritage. After her parents split up during her teenage years, Katherine left home at the age of 18 to study city planning at university in Toronto. It was during her studies that she worked at the Hooters restaurant chain by day, and did open mic comedy sessions by night. At these sessions she found her true metier as a comic.
Paradoxically though it was continuing her work for Hooters, now as a corporate trainer, that brought her to Britain. Charged with opening the firm’s then inaugural UK branch in Nottingham, she stayed on to explore London in the summer of 2007, where she began to pick up work on the comedy circuit.
Her upfront and sometimes sharply outspoken personality soon got her noticed: by 2012 she was a panellist on Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats, hosted by Jimmy Carr and she stayed with the programme as a team captain when it moved to E4. She also appeared in the spin off 8 Out Of Ten Cats Do Countdown and joined Jimmy Carr in 2017 to co-present four series of Your Face Or Mine? Katherine now regularly appears on many top panel shows.
Brilliant with a live audience, she also packs them in for her solo spots on BBC’s Live At The Apollo. Katherine is much in demand as an actress in TV sitcoms like Campus and Episodes and writes and stars in her own Netflix comedy The Duchess, based on a single mother’s life in London.
Katherine Ryan is a pin-sharp, contemporary performer perfectly at home as a keynote speaker, after dinner speaker or event host.
