Helena Humphrey is a multilingual news anchor and correspondent with a decade of on-air experience across Europe, Africa and Asia.
From Washington Correspondent on Capitol Hill to humanitarian aid worker during the world’s largest Ebola outbreak, Helena’s diverse, international background allows her to tell the most pressing stories of our time with insight, authenticity and empathy.
Helena has been working in London as a correspondent for NBC covering major stories including the COVID pandemic and Black Lives Matter. Previously she was a regular face on DW-TV, anchoring round-the-clock international news coverage, breaking stories, as well as DW’s flagship interview show -The Day. Helena enjoyed a successful stint as US Correspondent, covering the Special Counsel investigation, US-Iran tensions, immigration, reproductive rights issues and many other stories.
Helena has solid experience with rapid deployment in breaking news situations during terrorism incidents and protest movements. Helena was first on the scene during the Münster car attack, has anchored breaking news coverage during the Berlin Christmas market attack, reported from the Strasbourg Christmas market attack, Barcelona separatist riots, and Yellow Vest movement in France. Helena also has a sound knowledge of economic issues, reporting every year from the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Helena has worked as a Communications Officer for the United Nations and spokesperson for the Red Cross. She also hosts events, moderates panels and works as a keynote speaker.
