Arianna Huffington

The writer, businesswoman and media entrepreneur Arianna Huffington is a global thought leader whose influence on politics and journalism spans both sides of the Atlantic. As a keynote business speaker, she has the authority and credibility of an entrepreneur whose energy and vision were rewarded when the eponymous Huffington Post, which she co-founded, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Arianna is also a powerful keynote speaker and advocate on health and wellness issues, particularly as they affect the workplace.
Born Ariadne-Anna Stassinopoulou in Greece in 1950, the daughter of a journalist and management consultant, she first came to public attention while studying economics at Cambridge University. Her drive and ambition saw her become the first ever foreign President of the Cambridge Union, the famous University debating society with its long and distinguished history of launching prominent political careers. She was also only its third female President.
Arianna Huffington’s life has been packed with incident and personalities. The former wife of the Republican congressman Michael Huffington, she has rubbed shoulders and occasionally come up against some of the leading American political figures of the last 30 years, including Newt Gingrich, one-time Presidential candidate Bob Dole and California governor Arnie Schwarzenegger. Once a prominent conservative supporter of Republican causes, she has since spoken at Democrat conventions.
It is, however, as the co-founder of the Huffington Post in 2005 that Arianna Huffington is perhaps best-known. An online news and journalism outlet publishing both paid writers, blogs and material from citizen journalists, it has grown into one of the world’s most influential platforms for everything from long-form articles to breaking news. It was bought in 2011 for $315 million by the Internet giant AOL, who made Arianna Huffington its Editor-In-Chief. A year later it won a coveted Pulitzer Prize. She then stepped down in 2016 to found her own enterprise Thrive Global, promoting workplace health and wellness information.
As a dynamic entrepreneur, listed among the world’s 100 most influential people by Time Magazine and ranked among the most powerful women in the world by Forbes, Arianna Huffington would bring a potent and persuasive voice to your event, a truly distinguished keynote or business speaker.
